ABOUT US

HI, I’M SEAN!
Lowe’s School of Music has been a cornerstone of the Junction’s arts scene since 1970. In 2023, after 10 years at the school as a piano, guitar, and bass teacher, I was given the opportunity to take over management of this wonderful, long-standing institution.
I started playing bass and saxophone at the age of 11, and playing music quickly became a huge part of my identity. Soon all I wanted to do was learn to play instruments, starting on guitar at 13 and piano the next year. I was accepted into a music program at an arts high school and joined my first band in grade 9, spending years playing in any ensemble I could join. It felt great to be with like-minded, creative people who found playing music to be as exciting and fascinating as I did. As tough as it could sometimes be to sit down and practice (and it can be! I mean, have you ever tried to go to the gym? 🙂 ), I was always thrilled and proud when I could finally play that song I had always wanted to play.
When people come to our school, we know how they feel. They want to play songs that they love and feel the pride of achieving those goals!
At Lowe’s School of Music we help kids and adults, learn and perform the music they love.

MEET THE TEACHERS

Annie Wang
Voice and Piano
Annie is RCM certified in piano and voice and has a diploma in musical theatre from Randolph College of the Performing Arts. She is a regular performer in and producer of musical productions in Toronto.
Annie believes musical education should be led by the students’ passions. Her teaching style combines music that excites the student with technical exercises. Having been a music student herself, she loves being able to help people achieve their goals and feel that pride in themselves.
Mostly inspired by musical theatre and pop, Annie’s influences include: Stephen Sondheim, Thelonious Monk, Abba, Taylor Swift, Kate Bush, Dave Malloy, Joni Mitchell, Rachmaninoff.

Tyler Prince
Voice, Piano, Woodwinds, Drums
Tyler is an opera singer, saxophonist, pianist, and composer. He is a baritone currently studying opera performance at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory, and is also the lead tenor saxophonist of the Toronto All Star Big Band. He has performed on many stages including Koerner Hall, Roy Thomson Hall, Scotiabank Arena and more!
Tyler was once a student at Lowe’s and is excited to give students the same wonderful experience that he received from the school!
A multifaceted musician, Tyler is happy to teach any genre his students are interested in, and keeps them motivated by setting small, achievable goals. His own favourite genres are jazz, classical, gospel, and blues.

Ana Leman
Violin and Piano
Ana has an ARCT diploma for violin performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music, the highest academic diploma awarded by the RCM certificate program. She has performed with prestigious ensembles including the Orchestre Philharmonique de musiciens de Montréal (OPMEM) and Ottawa’s Thirteen Strings chamber orchestra.
Ana has been teaching music since 2012, and loves watching her students master something they’ve been struggling with–whether a small technical problem, or an entire piece. She knows that those little wins that take a student just beyond their level really help to keep them motivated.
Adept at playing and teaching in all styles, Ana’s favourite genres to teach are classical, soul, and folk.

Lane Halley
Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Piano
Lane has a BFA in Jazz Performance and an MA in Jazz Composition from York University. He likes bringing a variety of content to his students so that every lesson could be something new. He believes in making lessons fun by balancing students’ interests with appropriate musical challenges.
Lane teaches rock, jazz, classical, guitar fingerpicking, as well as anything you can tap your foot to!

Sudhanshu “Sid” Mishra
Guitar, Bass, Mandolin, and Drums
Sudhanshu is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and sound designer with diplomas in Electric Guitar (Trinity College of London) and Music Theory (ABSRM). He began playing guitar at age 7, and after attaining his Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering he went on to pursue music full-time, performing with rock bands and featuring on Indian national television with his classical fusion ensemble.
“I love combining the performing arts with clear explanations—showing students what I play, how other instrumentalists approach their parts, and breaking everything down both theoretically and practically. Helping them translate their own musical ideas into skills is incredibly rewarding, and I enjoy guiding them through that creative journey.”

Joe Morgenstern
Drums, Piano, Guitar, Bass
Joe is a versatile multi-instrumentalist completing his Bachelor’s of Music in Performance at the University of Toronto where he studies jazz piano.
“Being able to help students connect with music in their own way is something I’m very passionate about! I love finding out what makes students excited about music. I’m equal parts a huge nerd about music and a huge nerd about language and communication, which makes teaching very exciting to me.”
Joe finds that if a student is stuck on something difficult, finding some different way to think about it almost always gets them over that obstacle. His favourite genres are funk, soul, and jazz fusion.

Tina Ng
Piano – Online lessons
Tina is a certified piano teacher through the Royal Conservatory of Music. She has over 25 years of teaching experience and has worked with students of all ages. She focuses on helping students develop strong technical performance skills while understanding music theory. Her caring and enthusiastic approach motivates students to reach their highest potential, and she’s passionate about sharing her love of classical music!
